Announcing Mrs. Tyszka

I'm so sorry for my absence from this blog. I was busy getting married! I now have a very hard-to-spell last name. In honor of my new Polish heritage I am posting some Polish paper cutouts called Wycinanki. I can't post photos from the wedding because it will be in a future issue of Martha Stewart Weddings and we want it to be a surprise. It was an amazing day and Ben and I keep talking about it, remembering little things.

I hope to be back in full swing soon. I have a few new projects coming up. And REALLY want to get an Etsy shop up and running. I think that will be easier for me to update and keep current with products. Thanks for everyone's patience!

felted sushi!

A few months ago I went to a Craft trade show for my job and we made felted sushi! At these things they always have "make and takes" which I usually never do but this one was very cute. What you do with felted sushi I'm not sure. The other women doing the craft had never had sushi before....

A new doll

I finished up an order for a new doll today. I've been so busy with wedding stuff and part two of the Anthropologie order. This time I'm doing something slightly different but it's still a lot of work! Thanks for everyone's patience who has tried to order from me. I hope to get the shopping part of my site up and running really soon.

Wedding invites

I've been torn about whether to put wedding stuff here on the blog because I want it to be a surprise for everyone that day. I think I'll just give a few peeks hear and there. Yesterday I spent working on the invites. I'm using Gwen Frostic cards. The date is May 18, only 2 months away!

Bobby pins for sale at Anthropologie

As one reader has pointed out the flower hairclips are now for sale at Anthropologie! They are in stores now and since I'm not going to do a reorder, they won't last long. I saw them at the Rockefeller center store, here is a pic I secretly snapped.

Heirloom Apron

I've been in hiding trying to finish up my huge order. It's almost over! I have to ship on Monday. So this weekend will be a marathon. I had a bridal shower a few weeks ago in Michigan. This apron was made by Ben's aunt who pieced it together from many family heirlooms. Each embroidered piece is a memory. I am very honored to have this.

Crafters needed

Attention crafters:

I am trying to fill a huge order for my fabric flower hairclips. I can use some more help if any of you are interested. They are fabric flowers and require good craftsmanship and attention to detail, but no specialized skill. I can pay per piece. I am need of people right away in the NYC area and I'll pass along the supplies and give a demo. Please don't email me unless you have time to dedicate to this in the next two weeks or so. Thanks!

Polish paper chandelier

I was in Hamtramck Michigan for Thanksgiving and went to the Polish Art Center. I bought this beautiful paper chandelier. It is made from tissue paper but the colors seem to have faded over time. I love it.

Happy New Year

While I was home for Christmas I was able to go to the home of a seamstress and milliner who passed away and dig through boxes. She was the aunt of a family friend and had mountains of trim, fabric, buttons, patterns, rick rack, lace and every kind of notion you could imagine. Thought I would share a few pictures of my loot. More to come.....
